Meet Jacob Rascon. He is a broadcast journalism major at Brigham Young University. He is a recipient of the 2010 NAHJ Geraldo Rivera Scholarship. And this fall, he is a multimedia news intern at the Salt Lake Tribune.

Jacob has worked on a slew of stories since starting his internship at the Tribune, from covering Utah results from the midterm elections to immigration. He is enhancing his multimedia storytelling skills during his internship, where his editors say he has a bright future as a professional storyteller.

Jacob was also one of the contestants in this year’s NAHJ “Tell Us Your Story” video competition. He finished in third place among student member entrants. As with all of this year’s contestants, Jacob’s story is a compelling one.

Jacob has had experience in both English and Spanish-language media. His internship is made possible by a generous grant provided to NAHJ by the Chicago Tribune Foundation.
