News of incumbent Republican Gov. Jan Brewer’s pause-filled opening statement and her claim of beheadings involving un-documented people in Arizona’s desert became news following her debate with Democratic challenger Terry Goddard.

Brewer had signed the controversial SB 1070 immigration bill into law in April 2010, despite criticisms from civil rights leaders that the legislation would result in racial profiling of Latinos.

Boomer’s challenging of the governor’s statement became viral on the Internet, with her doing a follow-up by seeking out information from several county medical examiner offices along Arizona’s border with Mexico.

UPDATE: Associated Press reports that Gov. Brewer now says she was wrong about beheadings. Check out AP story at: :http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jbj_bdPgBEDCnKsgEE-5MCRWC68gD9I0VUB80.

CNN followed up with Boomer to ask how Brewer’s debate and refusal to answer reporters’ questions about her claim of beheadings in Arizona’s desert would affect her campaign:
