Parity Project Associate Director
Michele Gonzalez

This is probably the only time you will see Michele Gonzalez’s face. She is usually so busy working behind the scenes at NAHJ’s events–producing, negotiating with vendors and handling all the logistics–that she is mostly a blur. As NAHJ’s Convention Manager she is a pro at making it all come together: event programming, presenters, the career fair, AV, decorating, computers, you name it. She is also the Associate Director of the Parity Project where she works with communities to try to implement the Parity Project’s mission in new ways.

Before joining NAHJ in 2004, Michele worked in programming and finally as membership manager for the Radio and Television News Directors Association.  She began her career in Monroe, Louisiana, working as a producer on public radio before moving into television, eventually becoming newscast director for a local NBC affiliate. She also spent three years in advertising as a copywriter.

This Louisiana-born Puerto Rican works in NAHJ’s satellite office in Austin, TX. She loves Austin’s live music scene and watching indie films with her husband, Dan, while constantly searching for good Caribbean food in the Southwest (but mostly cooking it herself).
